At the same time there are reasons to think that what is out our front door just might be improving as well.
One of the two formerly abandoned buildings across the street is now fully functioning as the centerpiece of the Lower Maple Business Park:
It includes a very suburban parking lot, but I’m hoping that’s just land-banking for a walkable world.
A neighbor is making some small improvements to his property, and promising many more:
While on the other side…not so much.
There’s a rumor that the most problematic property in the neighborhood has been sold.
Hopefully the new owner can see the potential here.
Further down the street, just before the hill, another developer is renovating two townhouses and an apartment building across the street.
The MGM project is starting to take shape as it also continues to expand.
If the projects moving forward out the front door prove as fruitful as the ones in the backyard the future will be bright indeed.
Thanks for the update, and best wishes for a vibrant urban future! Here in Cambridge I’m enjoying the urban renaissance as well, but wishing it could be happening in an era with a bit less economic inequality, since the city I grew up in is feeling less and less like a place people like me (schoolteacher salary) can afford!
