A student of mine, a college bound senior, now finds himself needing to come up with $1,900 because the car he was driving out of the parking lot at his place of employ bumped into another car in the lot. That’s ok though because after 200 hours of work he’ll have made enough (FICA aside) to pay for it. 

Hard to imagine such a small mistake causing so much damage outside of a system that demands that 17 year olds drive just to take a job they can do for 10 hours a week for money for gas and insurance for the car they need to get to work.
